Our Strategic Objectives

RTY has four thematic programme areas namely adolescent health; HIV and AIDS; Human Rights and Livelihoods. As per RTY strategic plan 2016-2020, each thematic programme area has a strategic goal and each strategic goal has strategic objectives. Each strategic objective has clear interventions and expected outcomes and results. Clean energy cooking falls under strategic goal four.

Strategic Goal One: To contribute to a reduction in teenage pregnancies, child marriages and associated SRH risks among young people 10-24 years in Uganda.

Strategic Objectives under goal one

  • SO1.1: To increase access to youth friendly and rights based SRHR information and services.
  • SO1.2: To increase representation & participation of young people in influencing SRH policy compliance, governance and accountability in Uganda
  • SO1.3: To promote care and restorative services for teenage mothers and victims of early marriages in Uganda

Strategic Goal Two: To contribute to a reduction in new HIV infections amongst youth (15 – 30 years) especially most at risk populations in Uganda

Strategic Objectives under goal two

  • SO2.1: To increase access and utilization of HIV/AIDS prevention services for young people, especially most at risk populations.
  • SO2.2: To increase uptake/demand for HIV/AIDS treatment, care and support services for young positives.
  • SO2.3: To reduce social, cultural, political & economic barriers which make people vulnerable to HIV/AIDS.
  • SO2.4: To strengthen responsiveness of community health systems responsible for effective delivery of HIV/AIDS, services in Uganda.

Strategic Goal Three: To strengthen community responsiveness to GBV, child protection, Human rights and social injustices by improving governance and accountability relationships in delivery public/social services.

Strategic Objectives under goal three

  • SO3.1: To promote the rights of the most marginalized and vulnerable children and young women in communities
  • SO3.2: To increase youth participation in building effective social accountability relationships for improved service delivery to the most marginalized and vulnerable communities
  • SO3.3: To strengthen community structures to promote protection and promote the rights and social justice for the most marginalized and vulnerable children and young women

Strategic Goal Four: To increase the economic contribution of youth to national development by skilling, tooling and active participation in gainful employment opportunities and making environmentally friendly livelihood choices.

Strategic Objectives under goal four

  • SO4.1: To equip youth with vocational and entrepreneurship skills to enable them become self- reliant
  • SO4.2: To contribute to a reduction in negative effects of climate change through promotion of environmentally friendly production and livelihood practices including promotion of clean energy cook stoves
  • SO4.3: To strengthen community capacity to save and access affordable credit to finance their development
