Project Overview

RTY implemented a three-year project with funding from USAID to reach 16,060 out of school vulnerable youth, ages 14-24 years, in the districts of Kasese, Kyenjojo, and Kamwenge.

Focus Areas

Vocational Training

Skills in carpentry, hairdressing, phone repair, motorcycle repair, tailoring, knitting, metal fabrication, and plumbing

Life Skills Training

Using AflaTEEN curriculum to improve psychosocial and interpersonal skills

Agribusiness Training

Using RTY-designed training manual in collaboration with private service providers

Project Achievements

  • Trained youth received tool kits after training to enable self-employment
  • Local government structures improved their capacity to provide services for vulnerable youth
  • Health and social service agencies strengthened coordination and referral systems
  • RTY signed Memoranda of Understanding with vocational schools and private service providers

Partnerships: RTY signed MoUs with vocational schools, private service providers in agribusiness and life skills to collaborate and provide services to the youth.
